If your ear is blocked, you don’t necessarily have to go to the doctor or pharmacy. We show you three natural home remedies that help against clogged ears! If your ear is itchy, itchy, and suddenly hard of hearing, your ear is probably clogged. A feeling of pressure and ringing in the ears are also signs of a blocked ear. They are generally harmless and easy to clean. This can be done at the doctor’s or with special sprays from the pharmacy – but also with natural home remedies that clean your ear gently and thoroughly.
Salt Water
Salt water gently breaks down clumped earwax, you can even use it to treat toddlers and babies. But it also works in adults. To do this, dissolve a teaspoon of salt in 100 milliliters of lukewarm water and pour some of the salt water into the blocked ear. Leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes, then rinse your ear thoroughly with lukewarm water.
While the salt water is taking effect, you can plug your ears with cotton wool. Tip: You can also fill the salt water in a small spray bottle. You can use the ear spray throughout the day.
Vegetable Oil
To do this, heat some oil and put a few drops in your ear. Almond oil is best because it is particularly fat-dissolving. But olive oil can also relieve constipation.
Leave the oil on for at least five minutes and then rinse well with lukewarm water. If you plug your ears with cotton wool, you can leave the oil on overnight and rinse your ears the next morning. Tip: It is best to use high-quality organic vegetable oils. This way you ensure that no harmful substances get into your ear. However, since you only need a few drops of oil for the treatment, you can also simply use the vegetable oil that is in your kitchen anyway.
A Steam Bath
A steam bath is ideal if you want to clean your ears in a comfortable way. Pour a tablespoon of chamomile into two liters of hot water. You shouldn’t use less water so that it doesn’t cool down too quickly. Hold your ear over the steaming water for at least 10 minutes and cover your head with a towel. Then you can rinse your ear with lukewarm water. The chamomile ensures that dry earwax dissolves. It also cleans the ear canal and protects against bacteria. Tip: If both of your ears are blocked, you should treat them one at a time. First hold one ear over the steam bath and then rinse it out. You can then repeat this for the second ear. Otherwise it can happen that the cerumen has dried in the meantime and the steam bath was in vain.
Prevent Blockages: Clean Your EarsProperly
Our ears normally clean themselves. Our chewing movements and fine hairs transport it into the auricle. There you can wipe it off with a cloth. If you feel that there is too much earwax in your ear, you can rinse it out with warm water while you shower. You should never put cotton swabs or other sharp objects in your ear. This pushes earwax back into the ear canal and can clog your ear. You can also injure your sensitive ear canal.
